Neria, keeper of destiny
"They guard a forest seemingly stuck in time, the leaves always tinted such beautiful shades of orange, yellow and brown. She is found within the center, for those brave enough to seek her out. For what could one want more than to know their destiny. The forest, while seemingly peaceful and tranquil, is something less to be desired. Shadows lurk within, protecting their guardian."
- Diogenes' daughter; he was hoping that his abilities but not his curse may be given onto his offspring
-- she kind of inherited her father's abilities, but she's not an oracle and more the keeper of destinies
- she needs fire to see someone's destiny; but it isn't enough to just stare into any fire, she needs an eternal flame from her father's temple
- in order to see someone's destiny, she also needs something important to them
-- something very personal, something that defines them
--- now, she's a little bit of a trickster too; viscets come to her, bringing all sorts of often even valuable items but technically even just a piece of paper with the Viscet's name on it would be enough; after all... what does define you more than your name?
- she never tells anybody and just takes what they offer to her and keeps it
- many think that what she sees is simply one's future, but destiny is so much more than that; it's not simply about which job you're gonna have, who you'll marry, how many kids, when you'll die etc. it's deeper, but most don't get that
- what also hardly anybody knows is that she can not only see but even change one's destiny, if she desires
-- so if she meets a person with a dark soul but a good destiny, she will not hesitate to turn it on its head; or the other way round if she meets a poor soul who, in her opinion, has already suffered enough, she'll gladly help them out without anyone knowing, of course, that she changed anything
- she of course makes sure to keep that part of herself a secret; as it can be imagined what some would do to be able to bend destiny to their will
- often considered evil, although she really isn't
-- she simply has a fiery temper and had to realize that the kind are seen as weak and easily targeted
- keeps mostly to herself; but visits her father once in a while or spends time in mortal villages and cities
- she cannot be found by anyone, finding her may even take years, especially if she doesn't want to be found
- always surrounded by fox-like spirits and/or will-o-wisps, that seem to protect her
- still trying to figure out her own destiny / looking for the meaning of her existence
- has a hard time blending in with mortals, especially modern time
- is angry at both gods and mortals for abandoning her father
