Eden, the first reaper
the first Reaper, the first semi-mortal to ever die (and not pass on into "the void")
never been fully a mortal, even though he died (more like a demi-god or something similar, but not fully a deity either)
he basically was destined to become the first reaper since the start of his existence, though of course none of the other gods ever told him
-- basically before reapers existed every being could just go ahead and snatch the dying like "a fcfs thing"
technically beings went into "the void" when they died... but nobody really supervised that, so esp when Viscets developed less feral communities and started to develop true conscious etc that became an issue with esp evil-ish deities like Obsidian and later Lilith who wanted to get their hands on them to create armies (and even includes the "good guys" like angelics etc.)
so a neutral guide for the dead was needed, one who would look at every deceased and judge them by their life and their actions and many other things and then lead them on (and prevent them to get taken by anyone with selfish plans)
unable to pass on himself, becoming the first reaper and now immortal, he has to judge the dying and send them the right way (sometimes it is back to life, or he sends them to differen spirit realms that are connected to various aspects of the deceased's life)
He's a powerful being and a lot of others try to get a hold of him as he could easily - if he were bad, for example - send all the dead down to purgatory and create a huge army for Lilith
Staying truly neutral is not an easy, task, however; Eden has more than often been tempted by the possibilities of his powers
He both loathes and respects those that tricked death and will sometimes follow those that are on borrowed time, just to remind them that some things are inevitable
likes dressing up in cloaks just for the fun of it and carries around a scythe that can transform into any blade of his will - the handle will always be black, depicting skulls and bones, and the sharp silver blade will always carry an engraving saying "Memento Mori"
